Günlük hayatta çokça karşımıza çıkan, insanların genellikle çekindiği ve pek sevimli bulmadığı kargalar, çok yaygın olmamakla beraber evcil hayvan olarak karşımıza çıkabilir. Peki, doğal yaşam şartlarında pek de dost canlısı olmayan bu canlılar, evcil hayvan olduklarında nasıl olur, gelin birlikte inceleyelim!
Kargaların Genel Özellikleri
Kargalar, sahip oldukları ses ve diğer kuş türleriyle kıyaslandığında oldukça iri sayılan siyah gövdeleriyle her zaman göz alıcı bir tür olmuştur. Popüler kültürde, mitolojide, sanatta ve tarihte her zaman kendine yer bulan bu canlılar; yüzyıllar boyunca tarihin hem arka hem de öne planında yer almışlardır.
Genellikle ürkütücü olduğu düşünülen karga türünün, leş yediği düşüncesi hakimdir ancak bu kesinlikle asılsız bir iddiadır. Hemen hemen her türlü besin ile beslenen kargalar asla leş yemezler. Siyah parlak tüyleri ve pek çok kişi tarafından hoş bulunmayan sesi ile birlikte kıvrak zekasıyla, kargalar, dünyanın en özel canlıları arasındadır.
Kendilerine has bir karaktere sahip olan kargalar, oldukça yufka yürekli canlılardır. Tek başına uçan yavru bir karga gören karga sürüleri, bu yavruyu sahiplenerek kendi sürülerine dahil ederler. Genellikle sürü halinde dolaşan bu canlılar, kendi bölgelerine sahiptir. Belirli bir bölgede yaşam sürerler ve tek eşli bir aile yapıları vardır.
Kargalar üstün zekâ ve hafıza yetisinin yardımıyla tıpkı papağanlar gibi bazı kelimeleri anlamlarıyla öğrenebilir ve konuşabilirler. Hatta bazı papağan türlerine nazaran daha fazla kelime öğrenme ve konuşabilme kapasitesine sahiplerdir.
Genel kanı üzerine kavgacı ve huysuz canlılar olarak tanımlanan kargalar, evcilleştirildiği takdirde dost canlısı ve sevecen; harika evcil hayvanlar olacaklardır. Oldukça kıskanç bir karaktere sahip olan kargalar, bu kıskançlıktan ötürü diğer hayvanlarla pek iyi anlaşamazlar. Bu nedenle eğer başka bir evcil hayvana sahipseniz, karga besleme kararınızı bir daha gözden geçirmenizde fayda var.

Kargaların Ömrü Ne Kadar?
Yunan ve Roma mitolojisinde sık sık adı geçen kargalar, ölümsüzlüğü sembolize etder. Muhtemelen bu mitlerden dolayı kargaların yüzlerce yıl ömür sürdüğü düşüncesi oldukça yaygın bir düşüncedir. Fakat kargalar düşünülenin aksine yüzlerce yıl değil ortalama 15-20 sene arasında bir yaşam süresine sahiptir. En özel bakımlara ve yaşam alanların sahip kargaların bile yaşam süresi maksimum 25-30 sene sürmektedir.
Yunan ve Roma medeniyetlerine ait yazmalarda kargaların insan hayatından 9 kat daha uzun bir ömre sahip olduğu yazılıdır. Bu medeniyetlerde uzun ömrü ve hatta ölümsüzlüğü betimlemek amacıyla kullanılan kargalar, pek çok sanat eserinde ve kitaplarda bu özelliğiyle öne çıkarılmıştır. Ancak daha önce de belirttiğimiz gibi kargaların yaşam süresi 300-400 yıl değil ortalama olarak 15-20 senedir.
En Ayırt Edici Özellikleri: Karga Zekâsı
Diğer kuş türleriyle kıyaslandığında oldukça uzun bir ömre sahip olan Kargalar, genel kanının aksine kanatlı tarihi eser değildir. Ancak herkes tarafından kabul gören sahip oldukları üstün kıvrak zekaları, kesinlikle doğrudur. Yapılan araştırmalara göre diğer hayvanlara nazaran daha yüksek IQ değerlerine sahip olan kargalar, bu üstün zekasını beslenmek amacıyla kullanarak, üst düzey zekâ isteyen avlanma metotları geliştirmişlerdir.
Bu kıvrak zekânın etkisiyle olmalı ki bu müthiş canlılar, üst düzey bir hafıza yetisine de sahiptirler. Tıpkı filler gibi kargalar da asla unutmazlar. Bu üstün zeka ve hafızanın yardımıyla bir gördüğü yüzü asla unutmayan kargaların genellikle kin tuttuğuna dair toplum kanısı mevcuttur. Ancak bu kesinlikle yanlış bir kanıdır. Çünkü kargalar üstün hafıza yetisinden dolayı kendisine zarar veren veya buna teşebbüs eden kimseleri unutmazlar, bu nedenle onları gördüklerinde tepki gösterirler. Bu tepki kin tutmanın değil, kendini savunmanın belirtisidir.
Ne kadar zeki olursa olsun hiçbir hayvan insan ırkı kadar zeki değildir. Ve insanların aksine hayvanlar, yaşam şartlarını geliştirmenin değil hayatta kalmanın savaşını vermektedirler. Bu nedenle ister karga ister başka bir tür olsun hiçbir hayvan kin tutmaz, kendini olabilecek tehlikelere karşı korumaya çalışır. Üst düzey sabır ve emek isteyen kargaların eğitim serüveni, yavruyken eğitilmeye başlanan kargalar için daha kolaydır. Kargalara verilen eğitimin temel amacı, sahibine alıştırılmasıdır. Sahibine alıştırılmayan kargalar, yabancılara karşı son derece mesafeli olduğundan, sahibine karşı da mesafe koyarak onu beslemesine engel olacaktır.
Sahibine alışan kargaların, sahibinin yaklaşmasına izin vermelerinin temel nedeni, onu besin kaynağı olarak görmeleridir. Sürekli olarak sahibi tarafından beslenen kargalar, sahibiyle yakınlık kurarak, ona karşı sevgi beslemeye başlar.
Üstün zekâsı ve hafıza yetisi sayesinde yüzleri birbirinden ayırt edebilen kargalar, onu besleyen kişileri asla unutmazlar, bu nedenle kendilerine yaklaşmalarına izin verirler. Kafeste beslenen diğer evcil kuş türlerine kıyasla daha özgür bir yapıya sahip olan kargalar, çok uzun süre kafeste kalmamalıdır.
