Sosyal medyada yaptığı paylaşımlarla kısa sürede hayvanseverlerin beğenisini toplayan Sarper Duman’ın fenomen oluş hikâyesi de bir hayli ilginç. Bu konuyu kendisi daha önce şu şekilde açıklamış:
“2 sene önce hayatımın maddi, manevi oldukça zorlu bir dönemindeydim. Bir gün sahilden eve dönerken, bir gece yarısı, evime yakın bir çöp konteynırının yanından geçerken bir miyavlama sesi duydum. Çöp kutusuna baktığımda, siyah bir çöp poşetinde bir kıpırdama olduğunu fark ettim. Poşeti çıkartıp açtığımda, içinde şu an videolarımda başrolde olan kediyi gördüm. Ağzı kan içindeydi ve arka iki ayağı oldukça kötü görünüyordu. Başına ne geldi bilmiyorum ama birileri onu çöp poşetiyle çöpe atmıştı. O zaman maddi olarak büyük sıkıntı içerisindeydim ve 7 kedim vardı. Ama onu öyle bırakamazdım. Aldım eve götürdüm, ertesi gün telefonumu satıp ameliyat ettirdim. Sonra iyileşti. O süreçte, bir belediyenin halk eğitim merkezinde piyano dersleri vermeye başladım. Bir gün, bir öğrencim bir eseri çalamadığını söyledi ve video çekip yollamamı istedi. Telefonu sabitleyip piyano başına geçtim ve o an kayıtta olduğumu unutup doğaçlama bir şeyler çalmaya başladım. O esnada çöpten aldığım, iyileşen kedim geldi ve sevgisini belli eden hareketler yapmaya başladı. Videoyu izlediğimde hoşuma gitti ve instagram sayfamda paylaştım. O zamanlar yaklaşık 500 takipçim vardı. Videoyu paylaştıktan 2 gün sonra, sabah uyandığımda 55bin takipçi yazdığını gördüm, oldukça şaşırmıştım. Nasıl gördüler, kim yolladı bilmiyorum ama 9gag sayfası paylaşmış. Ve ardından birçok sayfa… O video 93 milyon izlenmeye ulaştı ve o günden sonra hep devamı geldi. Süreç böyle başladı.”
