Bizim için oldukça önemli olan hayvanlardan birisi olan kediler, “Muhteşem Hayvanlar” serimizin ilk sırasında yer alıyor. Türleri

Kediler kendi içlerinde pek çok farklı türe ayrılan geniş bir aileye sahiptir. Farklı coğrafyalara ait olan koşullar kedilerin görünümlerine etki etmiştir. Bu durum sadece fiziksel özelliklerle sınırlı kalmayıp karakteristik özelliklerine ve davranışlarına da etki etmiştir.

Kediler, yaşadıkları coğrafyalara göre fiziksel değişiklikler gösterdiği gibi bulundukları coğrafyaları da kendi isimlerinde yaşatırlar. Örnek vermek gerekirse; bir gözü diğerinden farklı olan Van kedisi veya tüyleriyle Fars diyarının tüm şatafatını kendinde barındıran asil İran Kedileri gibi…

Türler kendi aralarında hem davranış hem de görünüş olarak farklılaşmıştır. Kimi türlerde göz renkleri birbirinden farklıyken kimisinde tüy yapısı farklılaşarak öne çıkmaktadır. Ve hatta Sfenks kedisi gibi çok uç bir örnek vardır ki nadide yapısı ile bu dünyaya ait olduğu bile tartışılmaktadır.

Karakterleri

Kediler, tıpkı insanlar gibi birbirinden farklı karakter yapılarına sahip canlılardır. Ancak genelleme yapıldığı durumlarda yine insanlar gibi coğrafi getirilen getirdiği genel davranışlar konusunda bir genelleme yapılabilir.

Örnek vermek gerekirse İran kedileri son derece tembel, hareket etmekten pek hoşlanmayan canlılardır. Ancak sahibinin ona karşı davranışlarıyla sürekli olarak hareket eden ve sürekli oyun oynayan bir karaktere sahip olabilir. Bu da karakterlerinin ne denli özel olduğu konusunda bize güzel bir örnek oluşturur.

Bazı kedi türleri sahip oldukları karakteristik özellikleri ile muhteşem ev kedisi olabilirler. Bu duruma örnek olarak British Shorthair türü verilebilir.
