Evcil hayvan dendiği zaman çoğumuzun aklına kedi, köpek, balık ve bunlar gibi küçük sevimli dostlar gelir ancak bazı kişiler çıtayı öyle bir yere taşıdı ki evcil hayvan kelimesinin tanımında bile değişiklik yapılaması gerekti. Hemen hemen her evde bulunan bu evcil hayvanlar; kimi zaman kedi kimi zaman köpek kimi zaman ise balık olarak karşımıza çıktı.
Evcil hayvan sözlük anlamı olarak; evde bakılabilen ve insana alıştırılmış olan hayvan demektir. Bu nedenle insanlarla yaşamaya alışabilecek hemen hemen her tür hayvanı, evcil hayvan sayabiliriz. 3. Kirpi
Oldukça sakin bir yapısı olan bu sevimli minik dostlarımız, harika hayvanlardır. Elbetteki insanlarla birlikte yaşamaya alıştıkları takdirde sıra dışı evcil hayvanlardan birisi olacaklardır. Kendi halinde sessiz ve sakin bir yapıya sahip olan kirpiler; koşmaktan, zıplamaktan ve çeşitli hareketler yapmaktan oldukça uzaktır.
Keyfi yerinde olduğu zamanlarda kendileri gibi minik mırlamalar çıkartan kirpiler, çok fazla ilgi ihtiyacı duymazlar. İlgi ihtiyacı duymamasından ötürü, yoğun iş temposuna ve uzun seyahatlere çıkan kişiler için harika ev arkadaşları olabilirler çünkü kirpiler yalnız kaldığında herhangi bir sıkıntı yaşamazlar.
Oldukça naif karakterde olan kirpilerin küçük bünyeleri stresi kaldıramaz. Bu nedenle evde çocuklarla yaşadığı durumlarda çocukların onların sakin karakterine karşın oyun oynama isteği onları strese sokabilir. Bu stresten dolayı kendini tehlikede hisseder ve adeta dikenli bir top halini alabilir.
Yürüyüş yapmak ve koşmak gibi ihtiyaçları olmadığından, bakımı oldukça kolay olan kirpiler, ev içinde herhangi bir koku veya kirliliğe de yol açmazlar. Sıra dışı evcil hayvanlar arasında bakımı en kolay ve en az maliyetli olan kirpiler oldukça rağbet görmektedir.
4. Kapibara
Güney Amerika kökenli olan Kapibara sıra dışı evcil hayvanlardan birisidir. Kuru vücudunu nemlendirme ihtiyacı duyduğundan sulak alanların kenarlarında büyük gruplar olarak yaşan kapibaralar, kemirgenler arasındaki en iri olan türdür.
Sağlam derisi ve kalın tüyleri sayesinde -25 dereceyi gören sıcaklıklarda rahatlıkla yaşayabilirler. Ortalama olarak 1.40-1.45 cm boylarında olan kapibaraların ortalama ağırlıkları ise 70 kg civarındadır. Dünya’nın en büyük faresi olarak Guiness rekorlar kitabında kendin yer bulmuştur.
Beslenilmesi durumunda asla tek başına beslenmemelidir. Her zaman grup halinde yaşayan kapibaralar, evde bakıldığında da grup halinde bakılmalıdır. Evde beslemesi oldukça zor olan kapibara türü, oldukça hızlı hareket ettiğinden dolayı ev içinde pek çok dağınıklığa sebep olabilir. Bu nedenle kendine ait bir yaşam alanına sahip olması gerekmektedir.
Dolaşmayı oldukça seven kapibaraları evde beslemektense bahçeli bir ortamda beslemek daha doğru olacaktır. Rahatça dolaşmaları hem sizin için hem de kendi sağlıkları için oldukça faydalı olacaktır.
Sıra dışı evcil hayvanlar arasında kendine yer tutan kapibaralar, hem maliyetli hem de oldukça zor olan bakımı nedeniyle sahiplenilmeden önce üzerine oldukça düşünülmesi gereken canlılardır.

7. Tarantula
Dünya üzerinde yaklaşık 900 adet türü bulunan tarantulalar, diğer örümceklerden gözle görünür oranda iri olup, büyük dişlere ve uzun tüylere sahiptir.
Pek çok kişi tarafından Araknafobi’nin kaynağı olarak görülen tarantulalar, bazı hayvanseveler tarafından tam aksi olarak oldukça sevilmektedir. Oldukça sessiz ve sakin bir şekilde kendilerine ait yaşam alanında hayat süren tarantulalar, yaşam koşullarına bağlı olarak 25 yıla yakın bir ömre sahip olabiliyor.
Yaklaşık avuç içi kadar bir vücut boyutuna sahip olan tarantulalar, haftada bir veya iki kez solucan veya canlı böcekle beslenmelidir.
6. Kaplan
Her ne kadar büyük kedilerin evcil hayvan olarak tutulması hoş karşılanmasa da, pek çok kişi tarafından yeni yeni popülerleşmiş olarak evlerde beslenilmektedir. Oldukça iri ve vahşi duruşuyla son derece asil bir görüntüye sahip olan kaplanlar, doğal yaşam alanları olan ormanlar dışında evlerde de yaşayabilir ancak doğal ortamında yaşaması onun için kesinlikle daha sağlıklı olacaktır.
Günümüzde oldukça popülerleşen ve epey yüksek sayılabilecek seviyede maliyetli olan kaplan beslemek, son derece lüks olup sadece belirli bir kesim tarafından yapılmaktadır. Oldukça geniş bir alanda bakılması gereken kaplanların, büyük bahçeli evlerde yaşaması gerekmektedir.
Yavru kaplanlar, yeni çıkan büyük keskin dişleri ve büyük pençeleriyle çok tehlikeli olabilir, dişlerini kontrol altına almak için körleştirildiği takdir de ise yemek yerken problem yaşayacaktır. Bu nedenle evcil hayvan olarak bakılmak istense bile yine de kendine ait bir yaşam alanına sahip olmalıdır.
1. Boa yılanı
Tropik yağmur ormanlarının bulunduğu yerlerde görülen zehirsiz bir yılan türü olan boa yılanları, yakaladığı avları ilk olarak etrafını sararak boğmasıyla diğer türler arasında öne çıkmaktadır.
Yassı ve üçgen kafa yapısına sahip olan boa yılanları, alt ve üst çenesinde dişlerle dolu olan esnek bir çene yapısına sahiptir. Boyutları genellikle 3-6 metre arasında değişmektedir. Pullu bir deriye sahip olan boa yılanlarının, sırt kısmında ise koyu kahverengi kalın çizgilerle karo deseni bulunmaktadır.
Büyük boa yılanları ağaçları kendilerine mesken tutarken, küçük boa yılanları ise toprak inlerinde yaşamaktadır. Genellikle grup halinde yaşayan bu canlılar, karanlıkta daha iyi görme yetisine sahip olduğundan genellikle geceleri dolaşmaktadırlar. Diğer yılan türlerinden farklı olarak yumurtlayarak değil doğurarak ürerler. Oldukça hızlı ve tek seferde çok fazla yavrulayan boa yılanları, çeşitli akvaryum ve kafeslerde yaşayabilen sıra dışı evcil hayvanlar arasındadır.

5. Iguana
İguanalar, genel kanının aksine her ne kadar sinek ve böcek yeseler de otçul yapıdadırlar. Kuru otlar, sebzeler ve meyveler iguanalar için doğru besin kaynakları olabilir. Meyve ve sebzelerle hazırlanmış bir diyet programı onlar için sağlıklı yaşamın anahtarı olabilir.

Doğal yapısı itibariyle vahşi canlılar olan iguanalar, yaşam koşullarına bağlı olarak değişiklik gösterilebilmekle birlikte 20 yıllık ortalama bir ömre sahiptirler. Oldukça uzun boyutlara ulaşabilen iguanalar, doğru beslenme koşullarıyla 2 metreye kadar uzayabilirken ortalama ağırlıkları da 8-9 kg civarında değişiklik göstermektedir.
Renklerine göre türlerine ayrılan iguanaların, her renk için farklı bir beslenme yöntemi vardır. En belirgin özellikleri doğada tehlike durumunda kendini çevresindeki renklere bürüyüp, kamufle olmasıdır. Iguanaların, korunmak amacıyla geliştirdiği bir diğer savunma mekanizması ise suyun altında 30 dakika kadar nefessiz kalabilmesidir.
Evde bakılması özel bir çaba isteyen iguana için, doğal yaşam koşullarını aratmayacak bir yaşam alanı yaratmak gerekmektedir. Akvaryum veya kafesler bunun için uygun olup iç tasarımı iguanaların yaşam ortamına göre tasarlanmalıdır.
Düzenli aralıklarla yıkanması gereken iguanaların, derisini değiştirdiği dönemlerde eski derinin kolaylıkla soyulabilmesi için banyo yapması gerekmektedir. Su ile temas ettiğinde hareketlenmeler gösteren iguanalar, derisi ile de suyu emerek derisinin nem oranını da dengelemiş olur. Günün büyük bir bölümünü hareketsiz bir biçimde geçiren iguanalar, sıra dışı evcil hayvanlardan birisidir.
